The Dover American Legion Post 205 met recently. It was called to order, and Cmdr. Keith Thomas opened the meeting at 7 p.m. with four officers and six members present.

Adjutant Pat Antonelli read the minutes from the Oct. 3 meeting. A motion was made by Antonelli, seconded by Steve Debois and approved as read.

In the absence of auditor Steve Bender, Thomas read the financial report. The check book has a balance of $9,775.52, and the Jack Reese Scholarship Fund has a balance of $9,168.32. A motion by Ray Ulrich was seconded by Zack Wallick, and a motion passed to accept the financial report as read.

It is reported the monument is in town and will be set in place shortly. Plans are being put together for the dedication on Nov. 19 or Dec. 10, depending on the monument’s status.

The drawing was held for the $400 gift certificate from Buehler’s, and the winner was Sye Jackson.

The budget for 2023 will be finalized at the December meeting, along with a forecast calendar of events for 2023.

The history of the Arlington National Cemetery will be discussed at the Dover Public Library on Monday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the community room. The presenter is Bryan Bowman, director of military and veterans affairs in the office of Rep. Anthony Gonzalez. The discussion will cover the origins of the cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other related topics. To register, call the library at 330-343-6123 or visit www.doverlibrary.org/register.

With no further business, Thomas closed the meeting at 7:40 p.m. with the next meeting on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
